The Riggins Brothers grew up in an unincorporated town called Howesville.Paul helped on the farm that his grandfather owned and worked on.They went to school at the Howesville grade school which only went from 1st thru 6th grade. They went to Kingwood to Kingwood High School for grades 7th thru 12 .Music has been a big part in Paul & Bobbys' life.At the early age of 7 Bobbys' mother taught him how to chord the 4 string tenor banjo.Paul on the other hand taught himself how to play the guitar in the early years.Paul was also part of a few rock bands in high school with some of his friends. After high school he went on to work while he still played in rock bands.Bobby taught himself how to play guitar over the summer of 1980 after graduating high school.Paul helped Bobby learn more on the guitar at that time and as of 1981 Paul & Bobby formed the band Abilene playing around the local area.A few months into playing music under the name Abilene , Paul found out there was another band calling themselves Abilene too and so The Riggins Brothers' Band was born.Over the years Paul and Bobby have been performing around the Tri-State area. They opened for John Anderson and Louise Mandrell and have performed a number of concerts & dances. In Paul & Bobbys' family, music is a tradition. Starting back in the 1940's when their Grandfather Frank Barlow ,their mother Bertha Riggins, and father Matthew (Bud) Riggins played for square dances.Paul & Bobbys' brothers and sisters all have some kind of musical talent, music runs in the family.Well that pretty much sums up on how The Riggins Brothers' Band became a reality. So check out the Riggins Brothers at a dance or concert! We would like to thank our fans for all the support you have given us over the years. Paul & Bobby
